The Curse Ended

United 2-1 Liverpool

United versus Liverpool will never a showcase of beautiful football. But they'll offer something else, passionate and blooded rivalry. This time both teams have different aim, a stake for championship for the host and a 4th place for the visitor.

United: Van Der Sar, Neville (C), Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Valencia, Fletcher, Carrick, Park, Nani, Rooney.

The line up are well expected. Vidic and Ferdinand must end their woeful outing against fit -again Torres.

1st Half: Cautious football from the both side, but Liverpool found the breakthrough from their the 1st attack. The lone man Torres headed home freely though surrounded by numbers of United's defender. But the lead didnt lasted long, Valencia darted forward and Mascherano tripped him in the box. Penalty and yellow card, though the Argentinian is the last defender and denying the Ecuadorian obvious goal opportunity. Rooney failed to convert the initial strike, but found himself lucky when the rebounded ball fell to his feet to gave him 2nd opportunity. The 33rd goal of the season. In the rest of the 1st half, both teams produced no meaningful attack. Like watching a paint dry. At this point, i truly hope SAF will bring in Giggs for ineffective Park.

2nd Half: The cautious contest resume and United began to show their autorithy. And the possesion counted when Fletcher's cross met Park's diving header. The Old Trafford rocked! United continue their possesion but failed to kill off the opponent. And the last 10 minutes belong to the Merseysider. SAF brought in old guards, Giggs and Scholes to calm things down for tired looking Park and ineffective Nani. Torres miss kicked and tame header from Benayoun almost make it 2-2 in dying minutes.

United back to the top, and hopefully Blackburn can steal point for the wounded Chelsea at Ewood Park later.
